Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources for the Building Transportation Industry

NEII has been working hard to stay on top of the rapidly evolving issues surrounding COVID-19 and its impact on our industry and workforce. This week, the Insider and our weekly Friday COVID-19 newsletters are combined. The Friday updates will continue for the duration of the crisis.

Highlights from the jurisdictions this week:

Washington has issued an update on the status of construction in the state. Governor Inslee has announced that construction activity may resume in phase 2 of the Safe Start Washington Plan. As of today, 14 counties in WA have been approved for Phase 2, and another 11 counties qualify for phase 2 but have not yet received approval. We hope to see progress statewide toward phase 2 by early June.
For CA local orders, we now have a link to a sub-chart that has ALL the local orders issued in CA.
Nevada announced its plans for Phase 2 of their Reopening Plan to begin June 4, which allows casinos to resume operations.
Governor Cuomo announced that NYC will begin to open on June 8, joining the rest of the State in Phase 1.

Building Safety Month

May marked the International Code Council’s 40th annual Building Safety Month. The international campaign reinforces the need for the adoption of modern, regularly-updated building codes and raises the awareness of the public to the importance of safety codes.

NEII was a partner for this important month of awareness about building safety. We amplified our message about the importance of safety codes and up-to-date safety code adoption on Twitter and LinkedIn.
