May is Building Safety Month

The International Code Council’s 41st annual Building Safety Month takes place in May. The theme for 2021 is “Prevent, Prepare, Protect. Building Codes Save.” Each year, Building Safety Month raises awareness about the importance of building codes in ensuring safety in the spaces in which we live, work and learn. As always, NEII will be amplifying ICC’s Building Safety Month messaging in May. If you don’t already, please follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn.

COVID-19 Resources and Guidance

As COVID-19 restrictions and orders continue to change in response to the pandemic and vaccination priorities, NEII continues to stay on top of the developments. Each Friday, we continue to send out a newsletter with the highlights from the week, including summary information on COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and distribution policy at the state and provincial level. Read last week’s newsletter.

Recently, BOMA released a helpful FAQ: COVID-19 Vaccines and Mitigation Measures to address the issues landlords, property managers and employers have to take into consideration with the release of vaccines to maximize worker safety and a return to a more normal life, including incentivizing and/or mandating vaccination.

In addition, U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) continues to support essential critical infrastructure workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is re-promoting its Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce Guidance, version 4 to help state, local, tribal and territorial officials and organizations protect their workers and communities. CISA encourages leaders to use this guidance to support COVID-19 vaccine prioritization planning.
